What constitutes a "custom" cake?
A custom cake is any type of cake that goes above and beyond the call of regular cake work. This can include handmade fondant pieces, flowers, or attention to detail that is a little bit extra than a traditional style birthday cake. Tiered cakes and wedding cakes are also considered custom. Any cake not included on our Signature Cake or Semi-Custom Cake order pages are considered custom.
How much do custom cakes cost?
All of our custom cakes are priced out on an individual basis, so we will work with you to figure out exactly what will work for your guest count and budget. Generally, the cost of a custom cake starts with the size, cake flavors, and design work. From there, labor hours are factored in as well. Please visit our Custom Quote Request Form to enter your information to receive a quote.
Why is there a certain time frame for placing a custom cake order?
We ask for a MINIMUM of 10 to 14 DAYS notice for custom cake work, depending on the level of customization you're looking for. 14 days notice means that your order has been placed, priced, and your payment has been received 14 days before your order is needed. Failure to plan on your part, does not constitute an emergency on our part! If we are already booked up for a weekend, we will let you know. We often can, and do, accommodate last minute requests, but it cannot be guaranteed if you are not within the proper time frame, especially during wedding season (April-October).
Can I taste cakes before ordering?
The cupcakes in our shop are the same cake recipes we use for our cakes, and they are available for purchase all the time!
Can I schedule a face to face consultation?
Face to face consultations are available by appointment only. Please don't show up unannounced for a consultation. Consultations are done with a cake decorator and need to be scheduled when we are not already working on a cake. Please already have all the information needed to provide your quote: date needed, number of servings, flavor, and up to 3 design inspiration pictures. Cake consultations only last 10 minutes so the more prepared you are the better we are able to serve you. We require photo inspiration for all custom cakes to make sure we are on the same page with design. Consultations are not scheduled Fridays-Sundays as these are the days when we typically are working on custom orders. Face to face consultations are not necessary. You can do an online consultation by filling out our quote request from.
